Key Facts:  One-off Training Workshop

Overview:  Our training workshops are one-off group sessions on a specific topic, delivered in person or online. Workshops may cover dog training skills (such as loose lead walking or recall), parrot training (such as flight recall or target training), or other species-specific topics. They provide practical, hands-on learning in a supportive environment using modern, reward-based training methods.

When:  One-off sessions held on pre-advertised dates. The species, topic, duration, venue (or online platform), and fee will be confirmed for each workshop.

Where:  At a community venue or online (confirmed on booking).

Who can attend:

  • The person handling the animal must be at least 18 years old.
  • A maximum of two people per animal may attend. Any children attending must be at least 8 years of age.
  • Children aged 8–17 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times and must not disrupt the learning environment.
  • For dog workshops: your dog must be fully vaccinated, and up to date with flea and worm treatment. You may be asked to provide proof of vaccination.
  • For parrot and cat workshops: please ensure your pet is in good health before attending.

Suitability:  Our training workshops are designed for animals without significant behaviour problems. They are not suitable for animals with issues such as aggression, severe fear or anxiety, reactivity, or separation-related difficulties. If you need support with your pet’s behaviour concerns, please book a behaviour consultation with us instead. If you’re unsure whether a workshop is right for you, please get in touch.

What we will do:

  • We will deliver a practical, instructor-led session on the advertised topic with hands-on coaching.

Safety for you and your pet:  Please note that if the following precautions are not followed, we reserve the right to ask you to leave the workshop and retain the fees.

  • Follow the instructor’s directions at all times. The instructor reserves the right to ask any participant to leave if continuing would compromise safety, welfare, or the learning environment.
  • Any information regarding your pet’s health, medical conditions, or behaviour issues MUST be freely disclosed before the workshop. Failure to do so could cause serious harm.
  • If your pet is showing signs of ill health, please do not attend. Contact us and we will discuss options.
  • For in-person dog workshops: keep your dog on a lead at all times unless directed otherwise. Please keep your dog at least 2 metres away from other dogs unless instructed otherwise. Bitches in season are welcome but you must inform the instructor before arriving; attendance is at your own risk. You are responsible for cleaning up after your dog.

Cost and payment terms:  All fees quoted include VAT. The full workshop fee is payable at the time of booking to secure your place. If payment has not been received via the booking system or bank transfer, your place will not be held. The price advertised at the time of booking will apply.

Other costs: You may need to incur expenses for equipment related to the workshop topic. Second Nature Behaviour Ltd does not receive any benefits or commission by recommending particular equipment.

Refunds and cancellations:

Your 14-day cooling-off right: As this is a distance contract, you have 14 calendar days from the date of booking to cancel for a full refund by emailing info@secondnature.bio. If the workshop takes place within the cooling-off period and you have requested that services commence, your cancellation rights are lost once the workshop has been delivered. Refunds will be processed within 14 days of receiving your cancellation notice.

Cancellation by you: If you cancel with at least 7 days’ notice before the workshop, you may transfer to a future workshop (subject to availability) or receive a credit note. No cash refund will be issued outside of the cooling-off period. If you fail to attend without giving at least 7 days’ notice, the full fee is retained. No refund, transfer, or credit will be offered.

Cancellation by us: If a workshop cannot go ahead due to circumstances outside the instructor’s control (including but not limited to illness, extreme weather, vehicle breakdown, road closures, or other unforeseen events), you will be contacted as soon as reasonably possible. Alternative arrangements may include running the workshop online or rescheduling. If the alternative is not suitable, a credit note or transfer will be offered. If we cancel and cannot offer any reasonable alternative, a full refund will be issued. Please ensure you have provided a current mobile number so that cancellations can be communicated promptly.
